Dr. Sanya Ong

Dr. Sanya Ong started at Dr. Bishop and Associates as an optometric assistant in 2001 and worked with the company until 2004. She completed her residency in London, England at the Moorefield’s Eye Hospital specializing in binocular vision, low vision, refractions, and complex contact lenses. After completing her residency in 2007, she returned to Canada to get her international accreditation at the University of Waterloo which she completed in 2009. Dr. Ong completed her therapeutics training at the Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry. Dr. Ong also completed many other degrees which include business, medical science, and also a Masters in music at the University of Alberta. Dr. Sanya Ong enjoys traveling especially throughout Europe; she’s also the office “foodie” and loves new dining experiences.
Dr. Reena Hothi
Dr. Reena Hothi was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta where she attended University of Alberta. She went on to graduate from The New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts, where she completed the Doctor of Optometry program and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Visual Science. During her last year of Optometry school, Dr. Hothi completed her studies via clinical rotations which included Ocular disease, family eye care, pediatric eye examination, specialty contact lens fitting, primary care, and low vision consultation. She is a proud member of The Alberta Optometric Association and Canadian Optometric Association. When not working, Dr. Hothi enjoys swimming, hot yoga, traveling and spending time with her friends and family.
Dr. Aliya Pabani
Dr. Aliya Pabani graduated with a Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, OR. As a member of the Calgary Ismaili Health Board, she actively promotes healthy living in the East Indian Community. She is also a member of the Calgary Society of Optometrists (CSO), the Alberta Association of Optometrists (AAO), and the Canadian Association of Optometrists (CAO). In her spare time she enjoys watching dramatic television series, hiking, and spending quality time with her family and friends.
Dr. Pooja Anand
Dr. Anand graduated from the University of Calgary in 2003 with her Bachelor of Science Degree, majoring in Human Biology. She then moved to Chicago, Illinois where she received her Doctorate of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry. She was a member of the National Optometric Students Association (NOSA) and was also a member of the Clinical Honours Dean's List. She is a member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists (CAO), Alberta Association of Optometrists (AAO), and Calgary Society of Optometrists (CSO). Dr. Anand speaks in three languages (Punjabi, Hindu, and English) and loves travelling, volunteering, baking, and exercising.
Dr. Rakesh Tailor
Dr. Rakesh C. Tailor started his pre-career with Dr. Bishop and Associates in 1997 as a technician while obtaining his Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Calgary. After graduation he decided to pursue his passionate interest in optometry for which he went to the Inter American University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He graduated in 2006 with honours as a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honour Society. Shortly after which he decided to return home to Calgary as a practicing Doctor of Optometry with Dr. Bishop & Associates. As such, he has been a familiar face with the organization and our patients for some time. He is also a member in good standing with the Alberta Association of Optometrists, and the local Calgary Society of Optometrists. Every year, Dr. Tailor takes time out of his regular work to help support and distribute eye health care around the world through the OneSight program. He has traveled to Mexico, Punjab, Goa, and Thailand to help thousands of less fortunate individuals receive eye care and glasses at no cost through the eyeglass recycling program. Dr. Tailor is an avid Calgary Flames fan during the winter months, and in the summer when not working or traveling he enjoys spending time locally with family and friends. He also likes taking local road trips to the mountains to take in what Calgary and our surrounding areas have to offer.
Dr. Daniel Wang
Dr. Daniel Wang completed his first professional degree (MD) in Shandong University School of Medicine (China) in 1991. After working as an ophthalmologist in Qingdao Eye Hospital (Shandong Eye Institute) for 2 years, he accepted a postdoctoral position in Kumamoto University School of Medicine (Japan) and devoted couple years of his life in medical research. Dr. Wang got his doctor of optometry degree in Pacific University College of Optometry in 2004. Dr. Wang is actively involved in the blindness prevention and treatment missions including the ORBIS-the Flying Eye Hospital. Dr. Wang speaks native Chinese and fluent Japanese. Dr. Wang loves to play volleyball in his spare time. As a matter of fact, he has played for his high school and University for 9 years. Different cultures and multi-disciplinary academic training have opened his eyes to be a better clinician. With extensive experience and a philosophy of care, Dr. Wang will strive to provide excellence in a gentle and informative manner.
Dr. Gina Mason
Dr. Gina Mason graduated with her Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University College of Optometry, outside Portland, Oregon, in 2001. She also holds a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Calgary. Dr. Mason has been an Associate with Dr. Bishop since 2001. In addition to her efforts at Dr. Bishop, Dr. Mason is also active in the community, volunteering for both optometry and community initiatives. Away from her practice, Dr. Mason enjoys spending time with her young family and their busy schedule. Dr. Mason has been at the Northland Village location for most of her tenure with Dr. Bishop and enjoys the friendly and diverse patients that she sees.
Dr. Andrew Hoover
Dr. Andy Hoover has lived in Calgary since 1988. His undergrad studies were at the University of Calgary and he completed his optometric education in 2006 at the InterAmerican University of Puerto Rico. Dr. Hoover has been with Dr. Bishop and Associates since graduating. In addition to yearly hometown days providing eye exams to the needy in Calgary, he has gone to the Dominican Republic twice to provide eye care to the less fortunate. When not working tirelessly at Dr. Bishop and Associates, he likes to spend most of his time with his wife and 2 young children. Growing up in and near the mountains, Dr. Hoover learned to enjoy hiking, climbing, and skiing throughout the year. He also enjoys his yearly goose hunt in Saskatchewan with his family including his 86 year old grandfather.
Dr. Vaneet Kaloti
Dr. Vaneet Kaloti graduated from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry in 2001, and has been practicing in Calgary since then. She is passionate about her profession and enjoys seeing patients of all ages, from infants to seniors. She is committed to continuing education and is constantly expanding her knowledge base and methods of practice, through attending various local courses and the American Academy of Optometry education programs. She is dedicated to providing her patients with the best possible comprehensive vision care, using the many resources available in Calgary and the surrounding area. Dr. Kaloti and her husband enjoy spending time outdoors with their two young sons.

Dr. Regan Nowlan
Dr Regan Nowlan was born and raised in Calgary, AB where she attended the University of Calgary and completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. She graduated with honours and spent a year working in the vision and aging lab at the University of Calgary. Here she spent time working on a thesis in conjunction with the Gimbel Eye Centre on patient satisfaction following refractive eye surgery. She then moved to Chicago to continue to pursue her interest in vision and complete her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry.
Dr. Nowlan has been an associate of Dr. Bishop's since her graduation in 2002, and enjoys the diversity of patients here, from small children to seniors. She enjoys the continuing education the Calgary Society of Optometrists has to offer, and often attends the American Academy of Optometry Conferences to further her education.
At home, Dr Nowlan loves spending time with her husband and two young boys, and likes to keep active outdoors running in the summer and snowboarding in the winter.

Dr. Anisha Haji
Dr. Anisha Haji grew up in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. She moved to Edmonton, AB in 2003 where she completed a Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Alberta. Dr. Haji received her Doctor of Optometry from Salus University in Philadelphia, PA.
While at Salus University Dr. Haji received a very well rounded clinical education with special focus in the areas of pediatrics and vision therapy, contact lens, low vision, and hospital based ocular disease. She has worked at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia as well as completed an ocular disease rotation at the Salisbury Veterans Hospital in North Carolina, where she gained extensive training in management of ocular diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and glaucoma. Dr. Haji’s clinical experience and passion has provided her with the commitment to deliver high quality eye care to her patients.
Dr. Haji is a proud member of The Alberta Optometric Association and Canadian Optometric Association as well as a member of the Ismaili Volunteer Corp in her religious community.
In her spare time, Dr. Haji enjoys cooking, reading, travelling, and spending time with her family and friends. She can speak many languages including Urdu, Kachi, Hindi, Gujrati and Swahili.
